Named after the native word for the Black Cockatoo, the city of Nowra is found on the Sydney Basin in the South Coast area of NSW, Australia. It is about 160 kilometers from Sydney. After tribal invasions, the Dharawal Aborigines finally settled the area. It was not until the mid-1820s that Europeans arrived here. Mary Reibey made an application for a land grant after she completed her sentence, and within ten years, the first post office was opened in the town. A racehorse trained by a resident of Nowra won the Melbourne Cup. Wakeboarding is a popular pastime and championships are held here on the Shoalhaven River. Things to see in Nowra

Fleet Air Arm Museum
Fleet Air Arm Museum was set up in 1974. It has over 6,000 square meters of exhibition space over two floors available to display a wide selection of history about the old airfield. There is also a café, souvenir shop and a function area. You can see views of the airfield. The museum is open every day except Public Holidays. There are some naval aviation artefacts to look at, and there are a number of old aircraft that were placed on display by volunteers.

Arthur Boyd House
Arthur Boyd lived in Bundanon. The well-known artist donated his home to the nation. The home provided much inspiration to him and he wanted to share it with everyone. Nearby, another artist home was also donated. Enjoy guided tours of the estate. There is an education center and studio provision for writers and budding artists. The writer’s cottage, along with four studios makes up the accommodation for talented artists from around the world.

Point Perpendicular Lighthouse
Point Perpendicular Lighthouse was built to replace a previous lighthouse using blocks of concrete. The light could be seen from about 42 kilometers away. The lighthouse was built in 1899. The previous lighthouse was poorly placed, which led to the decision to find a new location that helped prevent ships from approaching the reef offshore.
